Quickening is the official member publication and digital news site for the American College of Nurse-Midwives. For more than 35 years, Quickening has been sharing news, updates, and articles about the activities of ACNM and its members, clinical and practice-related topics, personal essays, profiles, and related subjects. Quickening content is written by and for ACNM members and staff.
Originally a bi-monthly newsletter, Quickening evolved into a quarterly magazine available in both print and as a PDF. In Spring 2019, Quickening also launched as a digital news magazine on a dedicated platform, quickening.midwife.org. Two “best of” Quickening issues are now produced each year (summer and winter) in a PDF format for all members and at cost to print subscribers. Please visit
